Educator Specific

CCI Solar- Caltech

Our booth will demonstrate current research in renewable and solar energy. Participants will get to make their own dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) from blackberry juice and other common household materials. We will also have hands on demos of solar panels, fuel cells, and wind energy. Kids and adults alike have loved playing with and learning about this technology at the past 3 EXPOs and we're excited to share this again at the 10th anniversary!

Robolink, Inc.

Robolink is an education company that teaches children programming and engineering principles with robots and drones. We are striving to nurture the makers, builders, and innovators of the future by learning STEM. We will be demoing our robotics and drone kit, as well as providing simple and easy workshops at our booth to show how we teach programming.

Univision Radio

10 x 30 booth (2 10x10 booths) radio activities.

Participants will be able to see how radio works - they'll have an opportunity to record their radio commercials and hear themselves. We playback the audio to sound live. Many of these will actually be featured on the radio.

Geek Girl

We will have some Geek Girls at the booth to answer questions on tech. We will be setup with Star Wars and other props for pictures and selfies. We will have resource material.

MOVIE SPECIAL F/X

Get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of effects directors use in movies! Children will learn about chemical reactions, polymers, and air pressure as they get a backstage pass to see how special effects are created. Learn about the science behind magic when we make things appear and disappear before your eyes. Give us a standing ovation as we melt our special Styrofoam guest star with a unique chemical. For our finale, we’ll create a gigantic dinosaur sneeze straight out of Jurassi

ViaSat

Did you know that you can write your name, or in this case your initials, using binary coding using the ASCII code that computers read? Computers assign a string of 0’s and 1’s in different combinations and that translates as images or words on a computer screen. For this activity you will pick three colors – one will represent 0, one will represent 1 and the last we will use as a space between letters.
