River Bugs Are Cool
Learn how bugs can unlock secrets about the San Diego River’s health! Work with scientists to collect a sample and examine real living aquatic bugs, play games, and take home an activity book. Supplies will be provided, but please wear clothes that can get a little dirty. The activity takes about one hour, and we will have three rotations (all with the same activities). Rotations begin on the hour at 10:00, 11:00 and noon.
Cabrillo Bioblitz 2016
Join us at San Diego's only National Park to help celebrate our 100th anniversary with a nation-wide Bioblitz! Come help San Diego scientist quantify all of the plants and animals that call Cabrillo home. There will be science and art based activities for all ages as well as food, fun, and music. Get up. Get out. And FIND YOUR PARK!
Project Lead The Way/SDSU Society of Women Engineers' Girls Day Out: Middle School Edition
Project Lead The Way (PLTW) and San Diego State University's Society of Women Engineers (SWE) chapter are hosting a Spring 2016 Girls Day Out just for middle school girls on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 1pm-4pm at San Diego State University (SDSU). Students will have the opportunity to explore a few STEM fields with hands-on activities and interact with SDSU's SWE chapter and other student organizations, while parents/chaperones will learn about scholarship opportunities, various STEM programs for their daughters, and much more.
You CAN Do the Rubik's Cube Challenge
Students in grades K-12 will compete in teams of 8 to collectively solve 25 Rubik's Cubes. Join the fun! All schools, after school, and other community youth organizations in the San Diego area can register their teams through www.youcandothecube.com/compete-now The solo competition will be limited to students from registered teams.

Our rangers will be showing specimens of San Diego’s common animal species. Participants will be able to touch animal pelts, see real taxidermy and learn about local wildlife! Our Animal Ambassador Raptor Team will also be onsite. Learn what these birds of prey look like up close, where they live, what they eat, how they hunt and what survival skills they’ve picked up over time, to help them thrive in San Diego’s diverse environments.
