NDIA San Diego Chapter

NDIA Exhibit booth goals are to have students learn about technology needed within DoD from our industry partners and military including Navy Diving Helmets, Robotics, a variety of electronic tools, lights, and lasers. NDIA members talk to the students and parents about careers in STEM and provided helpful information based on their real-world experience. Together we help awaken a greater interest in STEM and STEM education.

NASA Glenn Research Center Space Communications and Navigation Program

Assets of the Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) Program are created into models and projected on our Holographic video display. NASA’s SCaN Program sponsors the exhibit to communicate the message of “Decade of Light” in an innovative, animated way. Content includes an animation of the purpose, functionality and design of the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) 13 created by one of our Program’s former summer interns.

San Diego Mesa College STEM Conexiones

*We have 2 Barobo Kits (computer operated robots) that people can try out, and we have kits they can replicate. *We also have a Mitosis Kit, and attendees can learn about and identify the stages. *We have different games about perception, memory, etc., that we can conduct. *We will have participants build a bridge using supplies such as craft sticks or blocks, etc. (All of these are activities for both children and adults.)

Gizmos & Gadgets Kids Lab

We offer a hands-on STEAM-based program to K-8th grades. We believe that early nurturing of children’s natural curiosity and validation of their inherent desire to explore the world around them is one of the keys to igniting the sparks of creativity and a life long love for learning. We will be offering some hands-on activities for engineering that include rocket launchers and mini-catapults.

Gizmos & Gadgets Kids Lab STEAM show

Our Gizmos & Gadgets team will put together a full size catapult on stage using real tools and demonstrate that all ages of children are able to enjoy engineering! We will test our build by catapulting soft foam balls! We will also be creating some Art with exploding paint rockets (because who doesn't like science and art combined)! We love to show that STEM can be loads of fun!

General Atomics/energy

Demonstrations of states of matter, including high temperature plasma and low temperature cryogens; eddy current production & magnetism, including a levitating magnet; human powered electricity generation, plus discussions of the physics of nuclear fusion will be presented.

FRC Team 3128: The Aluminum Narwhals

Our exhibit will consist of two parts, an informational section and an interactive section. On one side of the booth we will have our competition robot on display with information on our team and FIRST robotics. On the other side of the booth we will have participants program Mindstorms EV3 robots in order to navigate through a maze. There will be a row of laptops on a table to achieve this.
