Our demonstration will give students hands on experience with the fundamentals of genetic engineering. Using craft zippers, students will see how new genes can be incorporated into the genome and express a different function. Volunteers will teach and guide students through the demonstration alongside a poster board that contains informative concepts.

We will have hands-on engineering, marine biology, chemistry, and or other STEM activities. also, we will provide information about STEM programs for 2nd-12 grades.

Guests will understand the principles of buoyancy by experimenting with their own diver. Participants will be able to- ● Define and understand the concept of buoyancy ● Explain how a fish moves up and down in the water column ● Engage in the scientific process by conducting a water experiment using a diver and playing with the concept of buoyancy.

We will run a hands-on STEM engineering activity

We will be displaying our 2018-19 robot. One of the proudest features we would like to showcase is its arm and intake system. This design allows the robot to pick up different game pieces and flip them to the other side of our robot, preventing the need to turn our robot around when attempting to score. The arm was specifically inspired by "Darth Maul's" double sided light-saber. We will also present how the robot works. Our team will provide any extra information about joining FIRST programs.

Tensegrity-Tension and integrity. 6 popsicle sticks, six rubber bands, six pieces of tape and 6 minutes or so and you have a GTT/MESA Tensegrity model.

A hands on activity will be provided based on our Spring into STEAM 2020 theme, which is TBD.
